Description

The Poplars is a detached red brick house located on Leicester Road, dating from the mid to late 18th century. It stands three storeys tall and features three sash windows with glazing bars. The gauged brick arches above the windows have been stuccoed. The house has a stone-capped parapet but lacks bands or a cornice. On the ground floor, there are two bay windows with late 19th-century glazing. The central entrance is framed by a wooden doorcase that has an open dentil pediment and an attractive traceried fanlight above a six-panelled door. Attached to each side of the house is a ramped screen wall that includes a round arched recess with a blocked window.
