Description
The Paddocks is a Grade II* listed house located on the west side of High Street, dating from the 18th century. The main elevation faces directly down the street and features a red brick facade with stone quoins. A stone band connects the keystones of the ground floor windows. The house has a steeply pitched slate roof with coped gable ends and end chimneys, and it stands two storeys tall, with an attic window in the gable end. There are three sash windows with glazing bars set in moulded boxed frames.
On the west side, there is a large added recessed two-storey wing from the early 19th century. The cornice, supported by paired modillions, continues from the earlier part of the house. This wing has one window and a portico, although the hood has been removed. At the rear, there is a wing of two and a half storeys featuring 19th-century gabled dormers that break through the eaves. Only a remnant of the previously mentioned "good iron gates" remains.
