Description
The barn, gate piers, and south boundary wall of the paddock south-west of The Old Rectory date from the 18th century or earlier. The barn is constructed of low red brick and features a steeply pitched roof covered with slates and tiles. The boundary wall, also made of red brick with some dark headers, dates from the 18th century, while the coping is from the 19th century. There are two sets of 17th-century gate piers; one set is located in the south wall with a blocked gateway between, and the other set is at the western approach from Sutton Road. These tall red brick piers have pyramidal stone caps and ball finials. A similar pair of gate piers can be found on the eastern side of Green opposite.
