Description
The Old Rectory is a significant house located on Sutton Road in Great Bowden. It dates from the 17th century, with early 18th century additions, and faces the churchyard. The building is two storeys high, roughcast, and features a modillion eaves cornice. It has seven sash windows with original glazing bars and plain stone architraves. The central window and doorcase are set in rusticated stone, with a six-panelled door that has an attractive traceried fanlight. The western facade, which faces the road, includes two gabled wings and a recessed three-windowed centre, featuring an 18th century door in a doorcase similar to that on the southern facade, also with a good fanlight.
