Description
Hall Farmhouse probably dates to the 18th century, with a complete refacing in the early 19th century. The farmhouse is constructed of brick on a granite plinth, with a plain tiled roof. The main range is two storeys with an attic, and it comprises three bays. The central doorway has a steep round arched head. Flanking the doorway are three-light casement windows with cambered brick heads on each floor, and a smaller two-light window is located above the door. Gable end stacks are present. The rear wall of this range is constructed of random granite rubble. Attached to this range is a one-and-a-half storey outshut constructed of random granite rubble, which has a partially blocked window to the ground floor and a two-light casement in the gable end. The ground floor room of the main range was formerly a dairy and contains the original dairy equipment. A lower rear wing, possibly previously occupied separately, is also constructed of brick with a plain tiled roof. It has a doorway contained within half of a wider opening, two three-light casement windows, one with a cambered head, another doorway, and two casement windows above. An axial stack is located over an inglenook fireplace. A cheese room and a possible bacon curing chamber are situated at first floor level. A further wing, added in the 19th century, is located behind this wing and houses a bakehouse.
