Description

Old Hall Cottage and Old Hall, originally a single dwelling, date back to the late 16th century, with extensions and a new front added around 1712. The core of the building is timber-framed, visible on the rear and west sides, while the rest is constructed of brick on a granite plinth, topped with a Welsh slate roof. The main facade faces south and features two storeys with three bays. There is a central door in a porch supported by Tuscan columns and a projecting entablature. The flanking windows are three-light casements with transoms and cambered brick heads, while the first floor has two-light casements with flat timber lintels. Additional details include a sill band, dentilled eaves, and gable stacks.

The rear elevation forms an E plan, with a timber-framed central range partially hidden by an outshut, and wings connected by a boundary wall to the east wing. There is a side wall stack on the east wing. The west wing is known as Old Hall Cottage, featuring a gable to the north that is timber framed with square panels and arch bracing, along with two casement windows. The right bay is made of brick on a granite plinth, with a door in a porch to the left and a wide stair-window at an intermediate height. It also has a brick sill band and eaves cornice, as well as gable end stacks.

Attached to the house at the northeast corner is a garden wall made of brick, with stone copings and terminal and gate piers topped with fluted urns as finials.
