Description

Manor Farmhouse is a farmhouse with origins in the 17th century, altered in the 18th and 19th centuries. It has a timber-framed core that has been extended in brickwork and features a plain tiled roof. The main facade, dating from around 1840, is two storeys tall and has three gables that are heavily decorated with barge boards and pendant finials, arranged symmetrically with a door located in the central gable beneath a gabled porch featuring a chamfered round-headed archway. The windows are wide four-light sashes with hoodmoulds. The building has gable and axial stacks.

To the left of the main facade is the earlier part of the farmhouse, which retains remnants of three bays of timber framing, including principal posts, arch bracing, and fragmentary rails. Most of the windows in this section are 20th-century insertions, and this part was raised in height during the 19th century. The left-hand bay beyond this section is made of 19th-century brick, featuring dentils and a single casement window on each floor.

At the rear, more of the original building is visible, revealing extensive traces of the earlier structure behind the Victorian facade. The left-hand gable appears to be entirely from the 19th century, while there is an additional 19th-century wing to the right. The central section is timber-framed, with principal posts and wall plate clearly visible. There is a blocked doorway to the right and a renewed window to the left, along with an early 19th-century canted bay window in the middle of this section. The varying levels of the roofline indicate the different periods of construction. An axial stack is also present.
