Description

The Congregational Church, originally a chapel, was built in 1759 and extended in the earlier 19th century. It is constructed of red brick with a Welsh slate hipped roof and a brick band running along much of the facade. The main part of the building has two storeys with four 2-light wooden mullion and transom windows on each level. The glazing bars within the windows are arranged in a pattern of diamonds and rectangles. Below the window on the right-hand side is a two-leaved door with six panels, and an overlight above. The building is documented in the Victoria County History, Volume V, and in Nikolaus Pevsner’s architectural survey of Leicestershire.
