Description
No. 78 on Main Street is a house from the 18th century that was extended in the mid-19th century. It is constructed of red brick and features a Swithland slate roof with brick end stacks. The building has a decorative band, a painted modillion cornice, and brick coped gables. It stands 2 and a half storeys tall and has two 2-light mullion and transom windows. The central entrance has a wooden doorcase with pilasters and an entablature, leading to a six-panelled door.
In the attic on the left end, there is a 2-light horizontal sliding sash window and a single-light window. Extending to the left is a long, one-storey mid-19th century outbuilding with a Welsh slate roof and a brick ridge stack, featuring nogged brick eaves and seven 2 and 3-light casements with cambered lintels. There is also an archway on the far left side. At the rear of the main range, there is a small two-storey wing with a moulded brick cornice.
