Description

White Cottage is a cottage with a 16th-century core that was extended in the 18th century. It features a timber frame with brick panel infill and a later brick wing, topped with a Welsh slate roof. The building is L-shaped, with the oldest part positioned at right angles to the street. This section is two stories high and consists of two bays, with the timber frame largely intact in the northern bay. The frame is constructed with large panels, angle posts, and curved arched braces on the east side, along with a single middle rail. The wall plate is visible, although it is possible that a sill beam and intermediate panels once existed. The roof has queen struts. There are two three-light casement windows in the brick gable wall facing the street, and two single casement windows on the inner face. The later wing is made of painted brick set on a high plinth, likely of granite rubble. It has three-light casement windows on each floor at the front, an inner doorway, and a two-light casement window on the rear elevation. The building features gable end and axial stacks.
