Description

The Cottage is a house that was formerly two cottages, largely dating from the late 17th century. It is constructed of coursed ironstone rubble and has a Welsh slate roof. The building is two storeys high and features a front divided into three sections, with a projecting bay on the left side and a lean-to brick porch at the angle. There is one renewed two-light casement window on each floor in the central bay, with the lower window featuring a surviving hoodmould. The right-hand bay is taller and has a blocked doorway that has been converted into a window, complete with a hoodmould and keystone, and a new casement window above it, which also has an original hoodmould.

The gable wall retains ovolo moulded architraves around the renewed casement windows, and a date stone in the apex likely indicates that the house was re-roofed around 1848. On the rear elevation, there are three windows to the left of the doorway, with only the middle window retaining its original ovolo moulded architrave and mullion. The door features a rough timber lintel, and there is a two-light ovolo moulded mullioned window in the right-hand bay. The upper windows are all ovolo moulded mullioned lights, except for the left-hand window, which has been renewed. The building has gable and axial stacks.
