Description

Corner Cottage is a former cottage, likely dating back to the 16th century, but its original structure has been encased in ironstone rubble, possibly in the 18th century. The building features coursed rubble with a slight plinth and a corrugated iron roof that has replaced the original thatch. It is a single-storey, single-unit structure with a 2-light opening on the south wall and blocked lights in the gable wall. There is a door located to the north. Inside, there are a pair of cruck blades with a saddle at the apex, and a 16th-century cross wall aligns with the cruck truss. The interior also showcases close studding with wattle and daub infill on a timber sill, along with an ogee arched doorway.
