Description
The pump and flanking wall, located on Main Street in Owston, is a notable structure dated 1903, although parts of the wall may be older. The cast iron pump features a fluted shaft and cap, along with a small handle and spout, and is mounted on a stand at its base. It is set within a curved recess in the wall, which is slightly raised. The wall itself is constructed of ironstone and rubble, with stacked coping stones on the left side and rounded rubble coping on the right. An inscription stone behind the pump commemorates Frederick and Mary Palmer, dated 1907, and notes that it was a gift from three other members of the Palmer family.
