Description

The Grotto at Scraptoft Hall is a structure from the late 18th century. It is built of red brick and features interior lining of coursed squared stone and shell work that includes crystalline stone. The grotto has a rectangular plan measuring approximately 3 meters by 2 meters, with stone work inside resembling a plinth. The walls are adorned with shell work, and the ceiling has a simple quadripartite shallow vault that creates a distinctive vaulting pattern.
