Description

The icehouse, located 150 meters southeast of Great Glen Hall, is an early 19th-century structure. It is built from red brick, slate, and rubble stone, featuring an ovolo form. The entrance passage is approximately 5 meters long and has slate slabs for the ceiling. The chamber inside is about 5 meters in diameter and 7 meters high, although the base is filled with rubble. The mound on top is covered with turf and trees, with brick and rubble stone visible in some areas. The icehouse is situated near a public footpath and was likely constructed around the same time as Great Glen Hall.
