Description

Nos. 3 and 3a are a cottage and shop, originally built in the 18th century and extended in the 19th and 20th centuries. The earlier part is constructed of red brick, formerly colourwashed, with some mud panelling, and has a corrugated iron roof that replaced a thatched roof. It features two storeys with two 3-light horizontal sliding sash windows on each floor. The ground floor windows have cambered lintels. A central wooden doorcase with a bracketed hood shelters a 4-panelled door. To the right is a two-storey extension from the 19th or 20th century with a Welsh slate roof, alongside a part-glazed door, a 2-light casement window to the right, and a centre-opening 3-light window above. The interior of the earlier range contains chamfered spine beams with run-out stops, two inglenooks with hoods, and a single purlin roof.
