Description
Horse Shoe House is a building dating from the 18th century or earlier, located on the north side of Horse Shoe Lane in Great Bowden. It is constructed of red brick with some grey headers and features a steeply pitched roof that is now covered with corrugated iron. The house has a central chimney and the eaves are lower on the west side.
The south gable end facing the street has one window at the first-floor level. The building is 1 ½ storeys tall and has two windows and a central door on the western facade, with the southern window and door featuring painted stone lintels. The northern window is set in a bricked-up porch. On the northern side, there is a single-storey outshut with three windows, which are generally modern or 19th-century casements. The eastern facade has two storeys, two windows, and an outshut that includes a modern wooden porch.
