Description

The Old School and Master's Cottage is a former school building, now a dwelling, dating from 1834. It is constructed from coursed ironstone rubble and features a hipped Welsh slate roof. The building is single-storeyed and has a main block with five bays. The central bay projects and includes a full-height coped gabled porch, which has a modern doorway and a blocked window above. On either side of the porch, there are 2-light wood mullioned and transomed windows with latticed cast iron glazing bars, each with chamfered stone heads and voussoirs. The eaves are overhanging.

To the left, there is a smaller additional block that is linked to the main range by a single bay containing a doorway with a cambered stone head. This additional block is also made of ironstone rubble and has a pyramidal roof topped with a central finial. It features two 2-light wood mullioned and transomed windows and has a gathered brick chimney. At the rear, there is a late 19th-century red brick school master's cottage that adjoins the main building.
