Description
The garden house, wall, and attached gate pier at Papillon Hall Farm were constructed between 1902 and 1904 by Sir Edwin Lutyens. This structure features red brick and ashlar with plain tile roofs. It is a single-storey building with a circular plan, supported by four square stone piers. A curved brick rear wall connects two of these piers, while the other three sides remain open. In front of the two main piers, there are additional single piers on either side, which are linked by a wooden beam and topped with a ball finial. The building has a plain tile conical roof. At the rear, it is attached to a high red brick garden wall, which includes a single square rusticated ashlar gate pier with a moulded top on the right. This garden house was originally part of the garden for Papillon Hall, which was demolished in 1950.
