Description

Valley Farmhouse is an early 19th-century farmhouse constructed of red brick in Flemish bond, with a blue brick plinth and red brick platbands above the ground and first floors. It has a moulded wooden eaves cornice and a slate roof with end stacks and a ridge stack towards the right-hand end. The farmhouse is two and a half storeys high, originally featuring a four-window front, with the single bay to the right being a later addition in a matching style. Large 19th-century casement windows are set in segment-headed surrounds on the ground and first floors, with narrower windows in the bay above the front door. A panelled door is located in the second bay from the left, topped by a wreathed and radiating fanlight and a triangular pediment enclosing an ogee panel over curved braces. Later wings extend to the rear. Two ranges of farm buildings enclose the rear yard: a two-storey range parallel to the house with 2-light casements above and a large covered wagon way to the right; and a lower range to the right with late 20th-century casements.
