Description
The gate piers and gates located approximately 100 meters north of the Church of St. Giles date from the late 18th century and the 19th century. The piers are made of rendered red brick and stone, featuring moulded stone plinths and cornices. They are topped with round, tapering finials that have flat tops and carved floral drops, which may have originally supported additional stonework. The total height of the piers is about 3.5 meters. The pair of wooden gates has centers filled with wrought iron bars and fleur-de-lys finials. These gates originally provided access to Blaston Hall, which was demolished in the early 20th century, and now lead to the grounds of Stone House.
