Description

Ivy House is a house dating from the early 18th century, with alterations from the early 19th century. It is constructed of brick, with a stuccoed front and ashlar dressings, and has a slate roof with coped gables and kneelers. There are two gable stacks. The house has two storeys and an attic. The east front features a plinth and stone quoins, and a moulded cornice. The central bay contains a doorway with a rusticated arch and jambs, and a six-panel door with an overlight. To either side of the doorway are single glazing sashes with rusticated flat arches. Above these, there are three glazing-bar sashes with flat arches, all with stone sills. Three hipped roof dormers are visible above the main roofline, each containing a two-light leaded casement. The interior includes a panelled dining room with raised and fielded panelling, a dentilled cornice, and a dado rail. Fluted pilasters are present at two doors to the south. A staircase features turned balusters, a moulded and ramped handrail, a closed string, and square-topped newel posts.
