Description
House. Dating to circa 1700 with additions dating to circa 1830. Constructed of red brick with slate roofs, and featuring three ridge stacks and two gable stacks. The property is two storeys high with attics. The east front has a five-bay wing to the right and an early 19th century three-bay addition to the left. The doorway is positioned off-centre, featuring a six-panel door with a blocked overlight and a pilaster door surround supporting a bracketed hood. To the right of the doorway are two cross casement windows with exterior shutters, followed by a narrow casement, and then a cross casement with shutters. Above these windows is a first-floor brick band, then four cross casement windows, all with segmental heads. Above, there are two hipped dormers with casements. The three-bay wing to the left has a slightly projecting central bay topped by a gable, containing a three-light mullion window with plain sashes. Either side are single, similar two-light windows, the one to the left now blocked. Above, a similar window arrangement is present, topped by a brick parapet. The west front has an early 19th century three-bay wing to the right, featuring a centrally projecting bay topped by a gable. A central three-light cross mullion window is flanked by single doorways with glazed double doors and overlights, each contained within an ashlar porch with two Corinthian columns. Above, there is a three-light mullion window flanked by single two-light windows. To the left, a two-storey glazed corridor features a central canted bay window on the ground floor, articulated with plain pilasters and topped by a parapet with urns. The two-bay north return has a panel door with a two-light glazing-bar casement to the right. Above, there are a two-light and a three-light plain casement windows. The interior includes a good quality staircase dating to circa 1830, and various fireplaces.
