Description
The Roman Catholic Church of Our Lady of Victories, built in 1877 and designed by architect C. G. Wray, is a Grade II listed building located on Coventry Road. This church is constructed in a Gothic style using red brick with stone dressings and features a slate roof adorned with iron cresting and stone coped gable ends.
The entrance facade is banded in stone and includes a gabled porch with stone floral carvings in the spandrels. There are later side extensions that complement the porch. The nave consists of five bays and is buttressed, while the chancel is slightly lower with two bays. At the eastern side, there is a chapel with an apsidal end, from which a brick tower rises, supported by angle buttresses. The tower features a large belfry with gargoyles beneath a stone coped parapet, topped by a stone banded brick brooch spire.
