Description

The Vinery at Wistow Hall is a greenhouse built around 1820. It is constructed from red brick with stone coping and features a glazed roof made of Swithland slate. The structure is a single high storey with a lean-to glazed roof and has a continuous run of nine paired 12-pane windows set within a wooden framework. Below these windows, there is a brick wall with 18 small recessed blind frames and cambered lintels. The ends and dividing partition of the vinery are glazed, while the back wall has three piers that may have been used for flues. Each end of the wall features a small section that projects with a curving top. At the rear, there is a full-length lean-to with a Swithland slate roof. The vinery mainly contains 8/4 sash windows and four-panelled doors, along with four boarded windows or vents located on the main wall above the lean-to roof. This structure appears on an estate map from around 1830 at Wistow Hall.
