Description
The Old Post Office is a house located on Main Street in Illston on the Hill, dating from the early 18th century, with possible alterations that raised it by one and a half storeys in the late 18th century. The building is constructed of red brick, with a chequered pattern of black brick on the ground floor, and features a Welsh slate roof with brick end stacks. It has a rubble stone and brick plinth, a brick band, and dentilled eaves. The structure has two and a half storeys, with three 3-light casement windows and a six-panelled door positioned to the centre left. The windows are topped with cambered lintels, and there are three 2-light hipped dormers. At the rear, there is a two-storey wing. Inside, the property features chamfered beams and a double inglenook with a hood.
