Description
The New Inn is a house located on the west side of Harborough Road in Illston on the Hill. It dates back to the 17th century and was re-roofed, with a probable rear wing added in 1898. The building is constructed of rubble stone, mostly rendered, and red brick, topped with a Welsh slate roof featuring brick end stacks. It stands two and a half storeys high and has two three-light stone mullion windows. The central section features 19th-century gables and a brick porch with a Gothic archway, which contains a low wide part-glazed door. Above the door is a blocked one-light window. There are also three two-light hipped dormers. To the right, there is a one-storey extension with a two-light casement window. At the rear, there is a two and a half storey brick wing. The building was formerly known as the Hazlerigg Arms Inn.
