Description
The Manor House is a late 17th-century house, with a datestone of 1794. It is constructed of coursed rubble stone with a plinth, quoins, and stone dressings. The front is rendered on one side and the rear is partially rendered, with a red brick rear extension. The front roof is covered in Welsh slate, while the rear roof is slate, with brick end stacks. There is a stone band and brick dentilated eaves. The house is arranged in an "L" shape, with a short wing projecting to the rear. The main range has a gable facing the front, on the right-hand side. It has two and a half storeys of stone mullion windows: 3-light, 2-light, and 3-light. The ground floor 3-light windows have transoms. A central stone doorway has a moulded Tudor arch and a 6-panelled door, with the upper four panels glazed. An attic casement is located on the left-hand gable. There are 2-light and 3-light casements and stone mullion windows to the rear, where a 1 1/2-storey brick extension with a lean-to Welsh slate roof is situated. Inside, there are chamfered beams and two late 18th-century fireplaces. Above the front door, a carved stone tablet displays the Needham arms and is inscribed 'in parvo quies'. To either side of the stone band are the initials 'M.H. 1794', commemorating Mary Heard, who bought and partly rebuilt the house.
