Description
The Fenwicke tomb, located immediately north of the vestry of the Church of St. Mary in Carlton Curlieu, is an obelisk tomb that likely dates from 1744. It is made of stone and features a base that consists of a table tomb on a stepped plinth. The corners of the tomb have short pilaster strips that are intricately carved with a criss-cross motif, creating diamond shapes filled with floral designs. The tomb bears an inscription commemorating William Fenwicke, who died in 1733, and his wife, Cicely, who died in 1744. The entire structure stands at approximately 3 meters high and is topped with a short, squat obelisk.
