Description

Overton Cottage is a 17th-century cottage that was significantly altered in the 19th century. It is timber-framed with colourwashed plaster infill and a red brick front, set upon a rubble stone plinth. The roof is slate-covered, with a brick stack at the ridge. The cottage has one-and-a-half storeys and three windows: two two-light horizontal sliding sash windows are on either side of a central one-light casement window. Two dormers, each containing a two-light horizontal sliding sash window, are set below the eaves. All windows have cambered lintels. On the left end of the cottage is a one-light window and a two-light horizontal sliding sash window. The interior features a tie beam truss with clasped principals. The right end of the cottage has further two-light horizontal sliding sash windows, alongside a section of exposed timber framing with two large panels. A cambered tie beam truss is also visible here. A one-and-a-half storey wing with a door is located at the rear.
