Description
The Church of St Mary is a parish church that was rebuilt in the 18th and 19th centuries. It is constructed of brick with stone dressings. The west tower, part of the rebuilding from 1736 to 1739, has three stages and features paired round-headed lights in the bell chamber, along with oculi. The west door is a 19th-century Gothic addition, complete with shafts and decorated corbels supporting the hood mould. The three-bay nave was reconstructed around 1877 to match the chancel and includes heavy stone geometric traceried windows with two lights and foiled circles above. The chancel was built in the mid-19th century in a Gothic style and has a projecting vestry on the south side, as well as a priest's door on the north side, which features ornate shafts and a hood mould. The church also contains several stained glass windows.
