Description
12 and 14 Main Street are a pair of cottages with an 18th-century core and 19th-century alterations. They are built of brick on a cobble plinth and have Welsh slate roofs. The cottages are now two storeys tall, which reflects a heightening that occurred in the 19th century, as indicated by the former roof line visible in the gable wall.
No. 14 features a central door framed by a moulded wood architrave, with flanking three-light windows; only the lower central section of these windows opens. No. 12 has a doorway to the right, also in a moulded wood architrave, with a three-light window to the left and a paired sash window with small upper panes next to the door. The upper windows are three-light horizontally sliding sashes, while the lower windows have slightly cambered heads. The cottages have axial and gable end stacks, and the right-hand gable is coped due to the heightening.
