Description
The Hawk and Buckle Inn and attached stableblock, located at No. 46 on Main Street in Etwall, is a public house and stableblock dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of red brick with painted stone dressings and features hipped plain tile roofs, brick ridge stacks, and a dentilled eaves band. The building is two storeys high, with the inn comprising five bays and the stableblock attached to the west consisting of three bays.
The inn has a central moulded doorcase with a plain frieze and dentilled cornice, featuring a raised and fielded panelled door and a divided overlight. On either side of the entrance are pairs of glazing bar sashes set under wedge lintels, with five similar sashes located above. The stableblock to the west includes a wide segment-headed archway leading through the building to the east, and to the west, there are two blocked windows with wedge lintels. Above these, there are three similar blocked windows. The building is included for its group value only.
