Description

Nos 48 and 50 Main Street are three cottages that have been converted into two homes. They date from the late 17th century and feature 20th-century additions and alterations. The cottages have box timber framing set on a rendered plinth, with rendered nogging. They are topped with plain tile roofs, which have brick gable end and ridge stacks. No 50 has two bays, while No 48 has four bays, and both are two storeys tall.

No 48 includes a three-light casement window on the west side and a glazed panelled door from the 20th century on the east side. Further east, there is a 20th-century inserted two-light window and a mid-19th century gabled porch with a glazed panelled door. Beyond this, there is another three-light casement window. On the upper floor, there is a similar window, and to the west, there are two two-light windows. The rear elevation features a four-light timber mullion window on the first floor and large 20th-century additions.

No 50 has a large three-light casement window on the west side and a 20th-century inserted two-light window on the east side. Above, there is a 19th-century three-light casement window to the west and a lower 19th-century two-light casement window to the east. There is a doorcase in the east gable wall. The rear elevation has a blocked timber mullion window on the first floor and later additions on the ground floor.
