Description

Manor Farmhouse is a farmhouse built in 1677 and later. It is constructed of coursed squared sandstone and rendered brick, topped with a roof of Welsh slate and machine tiles. The building features rendered gable stacks and has a T-plan layout, with two storeys and attics. The exterior includes a chamfered plinth, plain bands at the first and second floors, and a dentil eaves cornice.

The broad three-bay north elevation showcases a central early 19th-century ashlar doorcase with pilasters and a hoodmould, which frames a raised and fielded panelled door and a traceried rectangular overlight. This door is flanked by broad three-light segment-headed windows with 20th-century casements. Above, there are two similar windows flanking a 2-light window, with three blind horizontal panels above them, aligned with the windows. The central pedimented gable features a 20th-century casement window.

At the rear, the west side has a 19th-century canted bay window and a re-set datestone from 1677 above it. To the east, there is a brick lean-to on the ground floor, which is not of special interest, and two large wooden cross windows above. On the return south wall, there is a blocked 2-light stone mullion window with a moulded surround. The south side also has an ashlar basement with a 2-light recessed and chamfered mullion window, along with the remains of a second similar window.

Inside, there is an early 19th-century stick baluster staircase, remnants of 17th-century panelling in the hall, and two early 19th-century chimneypieces.
