Description

Brook House Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the mid-18th century and early 19th century. It is constructed of red brick with a plain tile roof, brick coped gables featuring plain kneelers, and a brick stack to the rear. A dentil eaves cornice runs along the top of the building. The east elevation is symmetrical, with three storeys and three bays. It is approached by three stone steps leading to the central doorway, which has a wedge lintel and a raised and fielded panelled door with a traceried rectangular fanlight. Either side of the doorway are glazing bar sashes with painted wedge lintels, and a further three similar windows are located above and a further three smaller windows above again. Inside, there is an open string staircase with carved tread ends and three turned balusters per tread. A late Victorian cast iron fireplace is also present. Group value is considerable.
