Description
An early 19th-century threshing barn and stables, later converted into two houses around 1980. The building is constructed of red brick and stone rubble, with plain tile roofs and a brick gable stack to the west. There's a dentilled eaves band. The structure is two storeys for the barn and single-storey for the stables.
The front elevation features a central full-height opening in the barn, now glazed, along with slit breathers and two flat-headed windows to the west. Above are four diamond-patterned breathers. A single-storey range is attached to the east. The rear elevation of the barn, partially of stone rubble, has a 20th-century addition to the centre and double doors and a window to the west, accompanied by four diamond-patterned breathers. The front includes a 20th-century glazed door and window to the north of the eastern range, and three sets of double plank doors to the south.
Inside, the barn has sawn timber king post trusses and the remains of a large cruck truss, cut off at collar height, in the western ground floor room. The building is included on the list for group value.
