Description
The gate piers to Repton School, located on the north side of Willington Road, date from the late 17th century and the 19th century. They are constructed from sandstone ashlar and wrought iron. The gate piers are square in plan and feature thin moulded pilasters on the south side, while the north side has unmoulded pilasters. The inner faces of the pilasters are adorned with carved inverted brackets at the top, and there are large carved brackets on the outer sides. The piers also have moulded cruciform caps and ball finials. Attached to either side are coped walls, and there is a semi-circular flight of six stone steps leading to the north. A pair of 19th-century wrought iron gates completes the entrance.
