Description
Grove Farmhouse is a mid-18th century farmhouse that was altered in the mid-19th century and has 20th-century additions. It is constructed of red brick with gauged brick and stone dressings, topped with a plain tile roof featuring brick gable stacks and a dentilled eaves band. The building is two storeys high, plus garrets, and has five bays arranged in a double range plan. The central doorcase includes a bracketed hood, a half-glazed panelled door, and a plain overlight. On either side of the entrance are canted bay windows with dentilled cornices; the front windows have margin light sashes, while the side windows feature plain sashes. Above these, there are five margin light sashes set beneath flat brick arches with raised stone keyblocks. Attached to the south gable wall is a 20th-century lean-to garage that is of no special interest. The rear range features a two-storey canted bay on the south elevation with plain sashes beneath plain stone lintels.
