Description
Nos 4-6 on Manchester Lane are a pair of cottages, likely built in the 18th and early 19th centuries. They feature remnants of timber framing, red brick construction, and a plain tile roof with brick ridge and gable stacks. The cottages have a stepped plinth and a dentil eaves cornice. They are two storeys high, with the east elevation consisting of four bays.
There are two steps leading up to an off-centre doorway, which has a raised and fielded panelled door with a blocked overlight and a bracketed hood. To the right of the doorway are two 3-light segment-headed casement windows. On the left, there is a similar window, along with three smaller windows above. The lower bay on the left features a doorway with a plank door set within a blind round arch, and there is a small 2-light square window to the left, with another small 2-light window above it. The south gable end displays an exposed box frame partition, likely related to a demolished building to the south. The interior has not been inspected.
