Description
The lychgate and churchyard walls to the Church of St Paul were built between 1855 and 1856 by Benjamin Ferrey, with the lychgate possibly constructed later. The structure is made of coursed squared sandstone and ashlar. The lychgate features a timber superstructure and a plain tile roof that overhangs, topped with a central ridge cross finial. The lychgate walls rise to half height and are topped by an open-work timber structure that is outwardly braced. The walls that fully enclose the churchyard have steeply chamfered copings. At the east end, there are gate piers with steeply chamfered caps. This listing is primarily for its group value.
