Description
Bladon Garden Cottages and the stable block adjoining number 2 are a pair of cottages and a stable block built in the early 19th century. They are constructed from red brick with plain tile roofs, featuring gable stacks on the cottages and one on the stable. The buildings consist of three two-storey ranges connected by single-storey links, with the stable block located at the south end.
The east elevation has three bays, with a central segment-headed doorway that has a plank door. This doorway is flanked by Yorkshire sashes set under wedge lintels. On the first floor, there is a central doorway beneath a gabled hood with a hoist wheel, accompanied by a 20th-century iron balcony and flanked by more Yorkshire sashes. To the right, there is another segment-headed doorway on the ground floor. The link bay features a doorway and a glazing bar sash, both with segment heads.
The cottage on the right has a symmetrical two-bay front with glazing bar sashes and a doorway, all under segment heads. The link bay also has a segment-headed doorway. The north cottage is similarly double fronted with segment-headed windows, except for one that has a 20th-century window opening. The main elevations face east, showcasing the double-fronted design of the two cottages, which include pedimented wooden doorcases, panelled doors, and fanlights, all flanked by glazing bar sashes under wedge brick lintels. Above, there are three similar windows, although the two outer ones on the north cottage have been replaced with 20th-century casements. The two link bays are slightly recessed and feature round-arched openings. The rear of the stable block is mostly blind, except for four decorative iron grills at half height.
