Description
The Holymoorside and Walton War Memorial is a sandstone structure located at the back of a memorial garden on the east side of Holymoor Road. It features a tapering orthostat made of undressed stone, with rectangular panels carved into three sides to display inscriptions. These panels are designed to resemble tablets affixed to the stone, with pin-heads in low relief at the scalloped corners.
The main dedicatory inscription on the front panel states, "IN GRATEFUL MEMORY OF THE MEN OF THIS PARISH WHO FELL IN THE TWO WORLD WARS. 1914 – 1918 : 1939 – 1945." The right face of the memorial includes the inscription "1914 – 1918" followed by ten names, while the left face reads "1939 – 1945" followed by six names.
