Description
This is a farm outbuilding located to the north-east of Fanshawe Gate Hall, dating from the late 17th century. It is constructed from coursed coal measures sandstone rubble and features quoins, coped gables with moulded kneelers, and a stone slated roof. The building has two storeys and six bays. At the north-west end, there is a full height opening with a quoined surround, along with three single doorways that also have quoined surrounds, massive lintels, and plain planked doors. There is a single taking-in doorway to the first floor. The rear elevation includes ventilation slits on both the ground and first floors. Inside, queen strut roof trusses support a double purlin roof. The building is listed for its group value with Fanshawe Gate Hall.
