Description
The gate piers at the south-east end of the farm outbuilding at Barlow Woodseats Hall are a pair of stone structures, likely dating from the late 16th century. They mark the entrance to the farmyard, which is bordered to the south-west by the farm outbuilding range and to the north-east by Barlow Woodseats Hall and its gardens.
The gate piers are made from ashlar sandstone blocks and are rectangular in shape. Each inner face features a projecting vertical moulding that serves as a stop for the doors, which have since been removed. At the top of each pier, there is a moulded cornice, above which sits a depressed domed cap. The south-west pier is connected to a short section of stone walling that extends from the nearby outbuilding, while the north-east pier serves as the end point for the south-eastern section of the farmyard boundary wall. The walling itself is not of special interest.
