Description
Hay Farmhouse is a farmhouse built in 1786, with some minor later alterations. It is constructed of coursed squared sandstone with gritstone dressings and quoins, topped by a pantile roof. The building features stone coped gables with inverted moulded kneelers and brick gable end stacks. It stands two storeys high and has three bays, with a shallow plinth and a plain eaves band. The central entrance has a flush doorcase with a lintel inscribed 'WJS 1786' in an incised plaque, and it contains a 20th-century glazed panelled door. On either side of the door are 2-light flush mullion windows. Above the door, there are two similar flush windows and a single light flush window. All windows have two paned casements. There is a rear crosswing to the east, which also features 2-light flush mullion windows.
