Description
The alcove and attached wall located north-west of Owlcotes Farmhouse is a Grade II listed structure dating from the late 16th century. It is the only remaining fragment of a significant house designed by the architect Robert Smythson. The structure is constructed from coursed rubble sandstone with sandstone dressings. The rubblestone wall features rounded copings. The alcove serves as a seat and includes a moulded semi-circular arch, a projecting impost band, and pilasters with sunk panels. This alcove and wall likely formed part of the garden walls.
