Description

Rose Cottage is a pair of late 18th-century houses, now combined into a single dwelling. The exterior is built of coursed millstone grit with ashlar dressings, although the right-hand section is rendered. The roof is covered in stone slates, and there are stone chimney stacks. The two-storey and attic house has an irregular three-window front. An off-centre doorway is sheltered by a 20th-century gabled porch. To the left of the doorway is a single three-light mullion window, and to the right, a single inserted window and a 20th-century double-glazed doorway. Above these windows is a single two-light mullion window, a similar three-light window to the left, and a higher three-light window to the eaves on the right. A single two-light gabled dormer window is located to the left at the level of the eaves. All windows have flush mullions set in flush ashlar surrounds, and feature 20th-century glazing. The left return has two inserted single-light windows to the attic level. The right return includes a single-storey lean-to with single and two-light flush mullion windows, and a two-light window above. The rear elevation has two two-light windows at eaves level. The interior was not inspected.
