Description
12 and 14 Buxton Road is a pair of houses with an 18th-century facade, though they may have origins from an earlier period. The buildings are constructed of red brick and feature old tiles along with a brick eaves cornice. They are two storeys high and have a total of five windows, which are sash windows with glazing bars. There is one moulded wood doorcase with a pediment and another doorcase that has a shallow cornice hood supported by slender pillars, leading up to steps. Above the ground and first-floor windows, there are brick bands. A large chimney is positioned off-center. The houses are elevated above the road, set in a banked-up garden, and there are iron rails with urn finials leading to the steps of No 12. All the listed buildings on the west side of Buxton Road form a group at the north entrance to Ashbourne.
