Description

The Gate House is a large, three-storey house dating from the late 18th century, though incorporating earlier 17th-century stonework. Constructed primarily of red brick, it has three bays, with the central bay emphasised by engraved pilasters and a slightly projecting form. The front facade features five sash windows, each framed by moulded architraves. A later, engraved stone cornice supports a hood porch, which has a Roman arch flanked by plain pilasters with moulded capitals. Quoins and a parapet are also present, with slate covering the roof. Some original 17th-century mullioned windows are visible at the rear.
